People normally believe that an idea can change the world. But what really makes the difference are the actions that come after the idea.

I use to believe that people lack the ability to think, but that is not the problem. The real problem is to think and stay thinking. Nowadays companies try to have people thinking, but also others or the same doing those things.

It took me a while to realize, but the biggest difference is being able to take the thinking into action. To make what is part of ones dreams and ambitions and transform that into something concrete. Great ideas could have stayed that way if it had not been for men of action.

Regardless of their profitability or not, ideas are ideas, and they are useful only when they can be made into something real. Even ideas without profitability tend to find its completion in the making.

Entrepreneurs are by definition men or thinking, but mainly men of action. What could have been of inventions like the plane, or the pc, without people willing to take their dreams into the light. For that, people of innovation, entrepreneurs, should lead the way for everybody to realize that and idea is a better idea if everybody can see it.

Men of ideas and men of action should find each other so that all good ideas should find their rightful place.

Actions and ideas just need a little push, investments. For that purpose it is needed to find a place to make dreams come true, to fuse the three.

This blog intends to be that place. Let’s hope it is useful for you, and that our idea can be something real.

People who want and need to be their own bosses tend to be the right material to try something on their own. It is not so much as if they don’t know how to take orders or pointers; but that they have the drive to do the things they want.

Fear tends to be a key factor, or the ability to fight that fear. If someone is afraid of the unknown, such as uncertainty, could never be an entrepreneur. The fierce, the bold, the adventurous are the ones that would dare to search for that new world. This men and women are the conquerors of the new world, the world that waits for the ones with these abilities. The same thing that drove a knight into battle, a discoverer to look for new lands, is the vision of what lays ahead. These men of vision, these men of will, are today’s new conquerors. The visionary that have the one idea and that they would do what it takes to see it done. A will like a spear that crushes through enemies, these are the entrepreneurs.

These men of vision and of action are the ones that should not be entrapped in a company. They should be free to let their ideas and dreams to fly.

We are in times of uncertainty, some may feel this are times for entrepreneurs to stay put. I would say this are the best times for people who are not afraid of the unknown. The abilities to adapt and evolve that entrepreneurs have should be seen in times like this. They should lead the way, and help us all to surpass the complications that we are now living. Let’s hope that this crisis should help as see the possibilities and not only the problems.

Do you agree?

Investment is of crucial importance because the capacity of production of the economy depends on the capital available to produce. The existences of capital increase when the companies buy new tools, new buildings, new computers, new machines etc, etc, in order to help produce consumption goods. Investment is a flow that increases the existence of capital in the economy. But, of course capital runs out when it is used. One part becomes rusted; another part gets damaged, while there is another that is thrown out when it is no longer useful. Economists call all of the flows that reduce the existence of capital, depreciation.

Obviously companies need to make some investments alone to replace the capital that has depreciated. However any other investment above depreciation makes the size of the existence of capital to increase, creating a greater product potential so that people consume it. The flow of investment expenditure in any period of time depends on the comparisons the companies do between the potential benefits and the costs of buying capital goods. The potential benefits are measured in terms of the potential yield, and the buying costs are measured by the interest rate, no matter if a company asks for a loan or doesn’t in order to buy a given capital unit.

Why is the interest rate so important? If a company needs to ask for a loan in order to buy capital, it is obvious that the higher interest rates make it less probable that you will ask for money because paying off the debt would be more expensive. However, even if a company does have enough money in cash to buy a given unit of equipment, higher interest rates force the company to decide if they should use the cash to buy the equipment of borrow it from someone else. The higher the interest rates, the more attractive it is to give out the cash as a loan. As a consequence, higher interest rates discourage investment no matter if the companies have to ask for borrowed money in order to finance it.

I propose you to have a look on this very interesting article. It stresses that the best quality for any entrepreuneur is his adaptability… It sounds to be one of his best key to overcome the current crisis…

“Cash is King”

Business Angel

I`ve always been interested in Business Angel. This is an articule I`ve found in www.tutor2u.net

What do you think about them?

business angel finance

Business owners often report that company finance of £10,000 to £250,000 can be very difficult to obtain – even from traditional sources such as banks and venture capitalists. Banks generally require security and most venture capital firms are not interested in financing such small amounts. In these circumstances, companies often have to turn to “Business Angels”.

Business angels are wealthy, entrepreneurial individuals who provide capital in return for a proportion of the company equity. They take a high personal risk in the expectation of owning part of a growing and successful business.

Businesses Suitable for Angel Investment

Businesses are unlikely to be suitable for investment by a business angel unless certain conditions are fulfilled.

(1) The business needs to raise a reasonably modest amount (typically between £10,000 to £250,000,and is willing to sell a shareholding in return for financing. Equity finance of over £250,000 is usually provided by venture capital firms rather than business angels. The exceptions are when several business angels invest together in a syndicate or when business angels co-invest alongside venture capital funds. The sums raised can easily exceed £250,000. Raising finance in the form of equity (shares) strengthens the business’ balance sheet. Banks (or other lenders) may then be willing to provide additional debt finance.

(2) The owners and managers of the business are willing to develop a personal relationship with a business angel. This is important. Typically, business angels want hands-on involvement in the management of their investment, without necessarily exercising day-to-day control. This relationship can be a positive one for the business. A business angel with the right skills can strengthen a business by, for example, offering marketing and sales experience.

(3) The business can, and is prepared to offer the business angel the possibility of a high return (usually an expected average annual return of at least 20%–30% per annum). Most of this return will be realised in the form of capital gains over a period of several years.

(4) The business can demonstrate a strong understanding of its products and markets. Some business angels specialise by providing “expansion finance” for businesses with a proven track record, or in particular sectors. This enables an already successful business to grow faster. Business angels are also a significant source of start-up and early-stage capital for companies without a track record. A business plan based on convincing market research is essential.

(5) The business has an experienced and professional management team – as a minimum with strong product and sales skills. If there are weaknesses in the existing management team, a business angel can often provide the missing skills or introduce the business to new management.

(6) The business can offer the business angel the possibility of an ‘exit’. Even if the business angel has no plans to realise the investment by any particular date, the angel will want the option to be available. The most common exits are:

- A trade sale of the business to another company.
- Repurchase of the business angel’s shares by the company.
- Purchase of the business angel’s shares by the company’s directors or another investor.

This could be interesting to make your choice easier. This is a very interesting article that you can find on Business Opportunities Weblog and could be useful for all our Spanish Readers!

“A business isn’t something you can choose off the shelf like a can of beans. The most profitable business for you to start won’t be what someone else tells you will produce a lot of income. To be successful – and profitable – a business has to be something that matches up with your abilities, interests, skills, lifestyle, time available to work, personal contacts, ability to find new customers and the money you have available to launch the business.

Many people build successful businesses by doing the same kind of work they did as an employee. For instance, people who work as artists often start their own graphic design firms. Writers sometimes start newsletter businesses or other businesses in the communications field. Corporate software developers start their own businesses as computer consultants or programmers. Some people get their start by turning former employers into customers.

Others start successful businesses by turning hobbies into income-producing ventures. And sometimes people teach themselves new skills and then launch successful businesses based on those skills.

Your best bet for finding the right business is to do a self-assessment. List all the things you know how to do and like to do. Consider ways that each can be turned into money. Then consider who would buy each of the things you might possibly sell and what you’d have to do to find those people to buy your product or service.

Look for matches. Is there anything on your list of skills and interests that ranks high as far as the number of people who need that item or service? If so, do you know how to reach those people? And would you have enough money to launch the business and wait for a few months to get back your costs if you start to be successful?

The more “yes” answers you can honestly give to any business idea, the more profitable it is likely to be for you.”
